Queensryche covers Peter Gabriel . . .

  • Sep. 4th, 2008 at 7:10 AM

Today, I always miss things like this. Years ago, I was on top of new music and albums and rarely missed anything. I'm officially old, I guess.

Anyway, Queensryche's Take Cover album of . . . well, covers . . . has them covering Peter Gabriel, The Police, U2, Pink Floyd (not exactly a shock), Andrew Lloyd-Webber (that was a shock), and more. Some of the songs are fantastic (Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" and The O'Jays' "For the Love of Money" both stand out) while others are questionable (Black Sabbath's "Neon Knights," for example, is not good), but overall the album is entertaining.

I can't comment on Queensryche, but I sure can empathize with the larger sentiment -- i.e., formerly being on top of new music and albums, but currently missing just about everything! To think that I used to haunt alternative record shops and blow my entire discretionary budget on new vinyl . . . and now I rely on iTunes.

Old indeed.

I thought I told you about Take Cover. Oh well. Sorry. It's not a bad album, on par with Ministry's Cover Up and Rush's Feedback.

If you did, then I'm really losing it. Or have lost it. Whatever it was.

I need a break.
