Is there a way to recover? It feels as if the con is in a death spiral as each year fewer and fewer people visit the show. Origins needs something big to draw crowds.
The new GAMA ED has a lot of ideas, and he's already done some great things as far as internal efficiencies go, and there are some other really interesting ideas kicking around.
Also, this year probably looks even worse than normal simply because of the economy.
The thought is probably: "Why should I spend all this time and money to go to a show in the rust belt when in two month's time I'll be back there again with the same people plus thousands more potential customers?"
Got to figure a lot of companies are looking at tight budgets in a recession year -- and if you can only afford one big summer convention, seems to me like Gen Con is more likely to be the one.
Do you know the people who run it? I know my husband and I will be there this year as fans, but we're both freelancers (me WW and now SJ at least once, him WW and Catalyst.) It's his favorite con. Maybe too late for this year, but we'll help if we can next.

2) Don't be in the same general area as GenCon
3) Fix the Origins Awards
